The Society is organised into seven branches;
Central, Northern, North-West, Southern, South-East,
South-West and Wales and West as shown on the map. Each
local branch has their own organising Branch Committee.
Members from Scotland are placed within the Northern
Branch and the North-West Branch looks after members
from the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. For simplicity
Unitary Authorities are included in the metropolitan
and non-metropolitan counties of England.
International members are allocated to the Central
Branch for administration. Clicking on the branch area
of the map will take you to the individual Branch web
page with full Branch details, their events programme
and links to the branch mineral gallery showing members
specimens collected within the branch area.

Each branch of the Society organises an annual programme consisting of field trips and excursions to sites of mineralogical and geological interest. There are also indoor meetings with presentations by invited guest speakers or members, practical demonstrations and social events. About fifty field trips and forty winter meetings take place each year, making the Russell Society programme one of the most extensive and varied of any comparable society in this country. Any member can attend any other Branch meeting and field trip, space permitting. Guests are most welcome to attend Branch activities, by prior arrangement, please contact the Branch Secretary or Chair, their details are given on the branch web page, if you wish to attend any of our field trips or indoor meetings.
