Central Branch News
The Central Branch hosted the highly successful Russell Society national Annual Social Meeting in April 2011 at Castleford in the Peak District. Many thanks to all who helped out over the weekend and also those who attended to make the weekend such a memorable one. There is a full photographic report on the weekend for viewing. The autumn and winter programme of activities has been finalised and is given below.
The Central Branch Mineral Gallery has a set of excellent specimen images of minerals found in New Cliffe Hill quarry, Leicestershire. This is a branch area themed gallery that shows the interesting mineralogy of the Central Branch. Go to the Mineral Gallery.

For all Central Branch field trips please book your attendance in advance with the Branch Trip Secretary. Please note that when entering working quarry sites failure to wear the specified personal protective equipment will prohibit entry to the quarry without exception. See the Society Safety Requirements for details.

- Saturday 15 October 2011: "Gold in Ireland", Norman Moles. This meeting starts at 19:00.
- Friday 25 November 2011: "Twenty Years of Collecting in Derbyshire", Lionel Burch.
- Friday 16 December 2011: Christmas party, to be hosted by Margaret and Frank Ince. Please inform Margaret and Frank if you intend to come.
- Friday 20 January 2012: Branch AGM followed by "The Quarrying Industry in Leicestershire", Nigel Moreton.
- Friday 24 February 2012: "The Wollaton Hall Collection", Neil Turner.
- Saturday 24 March 2012: Note change of date. A visit to the BGS, Keyworth. Meet at the Main Entrance, Nicker Hill [SK 620 316] at 10:00 and check in with Security. Car parking is on the left of the Main Entrance. Please ensure that you book a place with Frank Ince before Wednesday 29 February 2012 and bring your own lunch.
